The school holidays have well and truly begun! Our factory is bustling with excited children, school groups and friendly faces, eager to explore what Melba’s has to offer. And there’s no better time to do it. Our production team are well and truly under the pump; with something going on in most rooms, there’s always something to see. It might not be the best weather; but the dreary clouds and rain only make for a bigger and better adventure.
But we’re not the only place to check out these July holidays. We’ve put together a list of our top recommendations for the Adelaide Hills. So, grab your sweater, get the kids and head to the Hills for a fun-filled day.
Stirling
As you weave your way through the Adelaide Hills, your first pit stop should be the beautiful township of Stirling. Through the main street you’ll find a collection of gourmet foodie hot spots and boutique shopping destinations, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of quaint European towns.
You’ll get lost as you wonder through, with new dining and shopping destinations hidden amongst the many laneways.
One of our favourite cafés is located here in Stirling, The Cellars and Patisserie, offering locals and visitors delicious coffee, cakes, gourmet bites and the best part on offer is the wide selection of premier wine from the region. Escape the cold and rug up with a delicious coffee as you begin your adventure through the Adelaide Hills.
Hahndorf
This quaint village is an iconic destination in South Australia; a beautiful part of the Hills. Being one of the first German settlements in the country, this picturesque village offers visitors an array of activities to pass the day. The traditional stores, leafy tree-lined streets and selection of German specialty restaurants make for a wonderful day exploring and learning more about European settlement in the Adelaide Hills.
An iconic destination is the family-run strawberry farm Beerenberg. Although strawberry picking season has come to an end, their shop boasts a collection of delicious jams, condiments and sauces that’ll be a hit with the entire family.
Hahndorf offers a selection of delicious restaurants, each with their own iconic meals. Take for example the Hahndorf Inn, SA’s taste of Bavaria as they say. With over 150 years of trading, the Inn produces some of the most authentic products, local and imported wines from suppliers in Bavaria and Austria. What better way to celebrate winter than with a hearty meal from one of the best pubs in the Adelaide Hills.
Woodside
Head to our neck of the woods, and explore the township where our iconic factory is located. Running through Woodside is the iconic Amy Gillet Bike Track, offering visitors a route through the village all the way to Charleston, the perfect way to see the beautiful landscape of the Adelaide Hills. And if the weather’s not the best, head our way. Our Coffee Shop boasts an amazing collection of Melba’s Hot Chocolates, and our factory is packed to the brim with delicious chocolates and confectionery.
So whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, or are heading out for the day, be sure to head to the Adelaide Hills. One of the most iconic regions in SA, you won’t be disappointed.
