The Lobethal Lights are back for another year, and our Adelaide Hills community are gearing up for a wonderful few weeks. Celebrate the Lights of Lobethal, and discover the magic behind the sixty-year tradition…
The Lobethal Lights are the largest community Christmas light display in the southern hemisphere, and have been visited by generations of families during the festive season. Starting December 9th, the township will light up, with the festival continuing until Monday 31st December, 2018. Businesses and homes in the community join, with many participating in the market stalls and events that complement the amazing festive atmosphere of the Adelaide Hills.
In their early days the Lobethal Lights were simply a display organised by the community. But once word spread of the incredible decorations and light display, many from surrounding suburbs, Adelaide and beyond began to visit. And this tradition has only continued.
Our Melba’s Chocolate Factory is located a mere 10 minutes from Lobethal, and many of our team visit the township over the festive season. Many tourists wind their way to our factory on their way from the lights, having been utterly impressed by the display. From the Living Nativity, Christmas Pageant and Opening Ceremony and Fireworks, the whole region celebrates Christmas with the Lobethal community.
Our Twilight Trading is back for another year, and we’re excited to welcome all families from the Lobethal Lights to our factory for dessert. With free face painting, colouring-in competition and chocolates and confectionery galore, there’s family-fun for all in the Adelaide Hills.
